Yu Sang Chang, DBA, Celebrates More than 55 Years of Professional Excellence in His Field

SEOUL, SOUTH  KOREA, December 27, 2018, Yu Sang Chang, DBA, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 55 years of practiced industry experience to his credit, Dr. Yu Sang Chang works as chaired professor and director of the Gachon Center of Convergence Research with Gachon University, a position he has held since 2013. At the inception of his career in 1962, he joined Boston University as a longtime professor of operations management, which he fulfilled for nearly 40 years. Over the course of his career, he has gained a plethora of experience with the KDI School of Public Policy and Management and Boston University, where he has also worked as chair of the management and quantitative methods department and director of the Korean Executive MBA program. Additionally, he held the position of director of the Asian Management Center at Boston University for nearly 20 years, during which time he provided management training both for free and for a fee.

Some of the companies that benefitted from Dr. Yu Sang Chang’s work were Hyundai Motor Company, the Ford Motor Company, the Raytheon Company, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, American Express, AT&T and Mobil Oil, among many others. For his work with the Asian Management Center, he earned the Magnolia Medal for the Order of Civil Merit by the South Korean government. In a career filled with highlights, he notes that serving as advisor to Lee Byung-chul, the founder and chairman of the Samsung Group, was a crowning achievement.

Prior to entering the field, Dr. Chang earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Washington University in 1958, where he also went on to earn a Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration in 1959 and 1964, respectively. A popular and prolific researcher, he has contributed his extensive knowledge more than 50 articles in professional journals and 68 papers to Google Scholar, as well as to Science Daily and The Korea Herald.

For his excellence in the field, Dr. Chang has been recognized with the Best Research Article Award from the Korean Social Science Research Council. In the coming years, Dr. Chang intends to continue teaching and conducting research in business, technology, public policy, economics and statistics. Married with one child, he enjoys golfing in his spare time.
