Young Lag Cho Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who

Since 2006, Dr. Young Lag Cho has been the chief development officer at LegoChem Biosciences Inc. Prior to this appointment, he was a scientist at the LG Life Science Research Institute for five years. Leading up to these professional roles, he dedicated many years to education. He primarily attended Yonsei University, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1990 before receiving his Master of Science in 1994 and Doctor of Philosophy in 1999 from the same institution. Dr. Cho began his postdoctoral work at The Scripps Research Institute in 1999, and then continued his work at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies from 2000 to 2001.

With an impressive knowledge in his field, Dr. Young Lag Cho has been a contributor of articles to professional journals, presentations, and professional conferences alike. In addition, he has held many patents in the field. Reflecting on these achievements, Dr. Cho attributes his success to his development of delpazolid. In addition to his contributions to science, he also has a wife and two children, and takes great enjoyment in painting and growing flowers.

Dr. Cho has received such prestigious awards as the National R&D Performance Evaluation Award and Presidential Citation in 2017, a moment he recognizes as a highlight of his career, and the Outstanding Research Paper Award from Yonsei University in 1996. His involvement in the industry began because he wanted to develop new drugs in an effort to contribute to humanity. Dr. Cho hopes to continue his practice, and in the near future, he sees himself continuing to work on the discovery and development of antibiotics.
