Marquis Who’s Who Honors Kwang Seok Moon with Inclusion in Who’s Who in the World

BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA, January 18, 2021, Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Kwang Seok Moon with inclusion in Who’s Who in the World. Dr. Moon is an electronics engineer and professor at Pukyong National University celebrating nearly four decades of service to his students and discipline. A graduate of Kyung-pook National University, he holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Engineering in electronics engineering. After completing a research fellowship at the University of Tokyo, Dr. Moon returned to Kyung-pook National University, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in electronics engineering in 1989.

While completing postgraduate coursework, Dr. Moon served as a teaching assistant in Kyung-pook National University’s department of electronic engineering. In 1985, he accepted a position with Yonam College as an assistant professor of electronic engineering, a role he would hold until 1990, whereupon he transitioned into his current role with Pukyong National University. Throughout the course of his tenure, Dr. Moon has held a variety of faculty leadership roles, including a term as the head of the department of electronic engineering, service on the personnel committee and two years as the faculty and council chairman from Mar. 2016 until Feb. 2018.

Dr. Moon is a certified first class electronic engineer, and has been a visiting scholar to such institutions as Jackson State University and North Carolina State University. His research, which focuses on machine learning and image compression, has been extensively published in various professional journals, including the Journal of the Korean Multimedia Society, the Proceedings of the International Society for Optical Engineering and the Journal of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.

Dr. Moon has been recognized for his contributions to the field with numerous accolades, including an academic award from the Korea Institute for Convergence Signal Processing (2018) and a commendation from the deputy prime minister of South Korea (2019). He attributes his success to his patience, preparation and emphasis on continuing education and experimentation, and expresses gratitude to his professional mentor, Gun Il Lee, for helping him develop the skills and values required for academia. Dr. Moon is a long-term member of the Korea Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, and has served as the director of the Korea Institute of Convergence Signal Processing since 2009, as well as the vice president and director of the Korea Multimedia Society since 2015.
