Dr. Jong Hee Kim has been a materials research professor at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, in the Research Center for Advanced Magnetic Materials since 2001. He formerly spent eight years as principal researcher at the Ssangyong Research Center from 1989 to 1997 and was a part-time lecturer in the department of materials science and engineering on campus between 1998 and 2001. Prior to his tenure at the university, Dr. Kim was a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart, Germany, and a research assistant at the Institute for Materials and Solids Research at the Nuclear Research Center in Karlsruhe, Germany.

During his tenure in academia, Dr. Jong Hee Kim was also an adjunct professor in the department of ceramic engineering at Hongik University in Sejong, Republic of Korea, between 2011 and 2017 and a teaching assistant in the department of inorganic materials engineering at Pusan National University in Busan, Republic of Korea, between 1981 and 1983. In 1998, he served as an expert advisor at the Complex Technology Training Center of Ssangyong Cement Industrial Company, Ltd., in Donghae, Republic of Korea. In 1997, he was a participant of the Advanced Management Program at Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea.

Contributing various papers to professional journals throughout his career, Dr. Jong Hee Kim has been the recipient of an Excellent S&T Paper Award by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies in 1997 and a Research Paper Award from the Korean Institute of Surface Engineering in 1996. He is also active as a lifetime member of the Korean Ceramic Society and has been a member of the Alumni Network Germany-Korea since 2016.

Dr. Kim received a Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering from Pusan National University in 1979 and 1981, respectively. He also completed a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Stuttgart in 1989. He notably served as a sergeant in the 33rd Republic of Korea Army Infantry Division from 1974 to 1976.

Born in Busan City, Republic of Korea, Dr. Kim later married his wife Young Lan Shin in 1983. He has two children. In his free time, he enjoys mountain climbing.
