For two impressive decades, Dr. Che Hoon Cho has excelled in the field as a welding engineer. He is proud to have designed the latest automatic pipe welding, thus securing the safety, credibility, and economic benefits for the development of nuclear power technology. Additionally, Dr. Cho confirmed the reliability and safety of Shin-Wolsong Unit 1 and 2 and Shin-Kori Unit 5 and 6 with deep understandings on NPP technology standards and welding technology.
Since the late 1990s, Dr. Che Hoon Cho has devoted himself to the Korean nuclear power plant construction industry with his commitment, sense of ownership and technical skill as a construction expert. Samsung C&T has also utilized his welding expertise. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of suggesting a method for welding in cold winters, as well as playing a key role in establishing a plan to secure construction quality. An expert in his field, Dr. Cho previously earned a Doctor of Philosophy in welding engineering.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Cho is affiliated with the Korea Electric Association, the Korean Welding and Joining Society and the Korean Society of Pressure Vessels and Piping. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, he authored a thesis on narrow-gap machine welding of RCL (Reactor Coolant Loop) pipes using rotating electrodes, and rebar welding systems using stud welding. For his outstanding work in the field, he was presented with a Commendation Medal from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
